SotF 2017 – The Heart of Worship: Liturgy and Sacraments (Fr. Denis Lemieux, MH)
At the heart of our Christian faith and our relationship with Jesus Christ is the worship the Church offers God and the grace the Church receives through the seven sacraments. Lumen Gentium, the Dogmatic Constitution of the Church (no. 48), identifies the Church as “the universal sacrament of salvation.” Christ, “continually active in the world,” leads all people to the Church so that He may “through it join them more closely to Himself.” The Church offers to the world what it has received from the Lord, and its work in the world is that of giving God the glory he is due in liturgy and offering God’s grace to his children through the sacraments.
In this conference, participants will be introduced to the scriptural, historical, and theological foundations and principles of the celebration of liturgy and sacraments in order that they might more fully participate in the life and faith of the Church, the Mystical Body of Christ and the People of God.
Particular emphasis will be placed on the sacramental preparation for and liturgical celebration of the three sacraments of initiation—Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist through the process of the Rite for Christian Initiation of Adults.
