We were very blessed to have Archbishop Luigi Bonazzi, Apostolic Nuncio to Canada, join us to celebrate our Commissioning of the Class of 2017 on Saturday, May 20.

On the evening prior to the Commissioning, Archbishop Bonzaai presented us with an Apostolic Blessing from Pope Francis in recognition and celebration of our 10th year! He also brought with him gifts from Pope Francis for each of our 36 students.

Thank you to all who have helped St. Therese grow in our first 10 years, and we are looking forward to, in the words of Archbishop Luigi, “years 11, 12… and 25!”

COME AND PICK WHILE THE PICKING IS GREAT -- Our fruit has ripened a couple weeks earlier than usual and cherries likely won't last into late August like in previous years.

The St. Therese grounds feature several acres of Cherry Orchard, featuring several varieties of the great tasting, tart-but-sweet University of Saskatoon-developed Dwarf Sour Cherry.

We had previously announced earlier in the season that the cherry harvest looked poor, but our later cherries did not run into the issues that our early cherries did! Our later-ripening cherries are now ready for picking, and picking is looking great!

We received the news today (admittedly with both excitement and a bit of sadness) that Most Rev. Donald Bolen, Bishop of Saskatoon, has been appointed the next Archbishop of Regina.

We thank you, Bishop Don, for the 6 years that you have shepherded us, loved us, supported us and prayed for us, and we pray for God's graces to flow both into and through you more and more powerfully as you prepare to journey along the path that God has laid before you!

To read the official Diocese of Saskatoon announcement, please see http://saskatoonrcdiocese.com/news/pope...archbishop-regina.
A letter by Bishop Don regarding his appointment can be found at http://saskatoonrcdiocese.com/s.../bolen_letter_at_time_of_transition.pdf

Dear Friends of St. Therese!

We pray that God blesses you abundantly during this joyous season! Advent is a time of joyful anticipation, and we are very excited to share our good news with you about what the Lord has been doing at St. Therese Institute!

Thursday, 24 December 2015 22:16 Written by in Blog & Updates

Yesterday, we bid "farewell" and "may the Lord bless and keep you" to Jerry and Donna Kristian as they left St. Therese Institute staff and take on 'triumph: Freedom through Healing' as an independent apostolate. With Jerry and Donna leaving, we will also be focusing St. Therese completely on operating the School of Faith and Mission and associated programming: the independent Healing and Growth Centre component of St. Therese will be retired.

We look forward to seeing the 'triumph' program spread its wings as it takes the leap out of the St.T nest, and sets out to bring God's healing love to people beyond the confines of the old convent in Bruno!

Blessings on the journey, and Godspeed!

We're excited to give you a sneak-peak, first-look at the new StStherese.ca website!

There still is A LOT of information to get online, but we hope once that (we're done!) the new site will make it quicker for you to find what you're looking for and easier to register for events.

If there is something that is missing or a link that is broken, please let us know!

May God bless you during this Advent season as we prepare our hearts to welcome The Christ Child in.

The Lord's Day — Sunday Gospel Reflections

The Lord's Day — Sunday Gospel Reflections (40)

Go deeper into the Sunday Gospel, and make "keeping holy the Sabbath" a more important part of your life and a practice in your family, household or community.

One way that we strive to do this in St. Therese Institute's faith formation program is by inviting our students to participate in a weekly "The Lord's Day Celebration".

In the Jewish tradition, the new day begins at sundown (you'll see this echoed through into the Catholic tradition of having a Sunday Mass on the Saturday evening, for example). Our Lord's Day celebration begins at Saturday's supper with a short time of prayer, a reading of and reflection on the coming Sunday's Gospel reading, and then grace. After supper, a prayer of thanksgiving is said. The reflection on the Gospel is given either a student or one of our formation team. To bookend the Lord's Day, another short time of prayer precedes the Sunday supper grace, and again a prayer of thanksgiving follows supper.

Our director of Assistant Director of Formation, Nicholas Pierlot, explains more in the above video.
